A special cake for a special friend and some thoughts...

This cake deserves a post of its own...

About 6 years ago, I found my soul mate! We met at a parents evening and since then she has been my best friend. She was here only for two years (a fact I didn’t give much notice to at the time) and once she went back to Israel, my heart broke! She is still my closest friend but we have a sea between us...
I suppose that this is the price you pay when you are surrounded by people that living here is not a permanent situation for them, but from that point on I swore that anyone who becomes my friend is someone who is here to stay (well...as least as long as I’m here ;-) ) as the pain of losing a close friend AGAIN is too hard to bear.

So...about two years ago, I met this lovely lady (at the kids school obviously...) and she was very nice, and smiley, and chatty and positive, but...being protective of my heart I asked her "how long are you here for?" and she replied..."not sure, but for a long time..." ! My heart gave me the thumbs up and off we went!
She became one of my closest friends and even a business partner!!
Our kids and husbands have become friends as well and all was good.
Or was it??? Yes you guessed…she is leaving 
I know we will remain good friends, but still I would miss her immensely!
A few months ago she celebrated her 40th birthday, and I made this cake for her with very much mixed feelings- sadness for her leaving but happy for having the pleasure of meeting her and becoming her friend. So this post and cake is dedicated to you good friend.
I do wish you all the best; I told you once that I think you were made for greatness- I meant it!
I’m sure you will be happy wherever you go as long as you are with your amazing husband and family.
Tali

Lessons-
1. Never say no to a good friendship, no matter how short it may be
2. Good friends can be also the icing on the cake…
3. If you have any connections with the airline your friend is going home with…don’t hesitate to pull some strings to cancel their flight…

Looks familiar ???

A year ago, about the same time I made this cake for a lovely 6 year old girl, this year she wanted the same cake but bigger and higher. Can you imagine how her 10th birthday cake will look like ... I can’t wait for the challenge :-)

Again, a big thank you to my good good friend Zohar who came to take these pictures and managed to capture them although very difficult light conditions. Thank you Zohar xxx

Look at these amazing collages she made for me-

Cupcake Mania...

So cup cakes are a big hit now. They come in all sizes and shapes; have a look at a few I made this week. I loved making then and enjoyed the thought of each child getting his own perfect little "cake".

It's the first time I have a good professional picture of my little creations thanks to my good good friend Zohar that came early morning before the cupcakes were collected (it was a sad goodbye but I'm ok now :-) and took so many pictures and edited them for me, so have a look…

LOL, Tali xx
