Well, look no further…
Half term children cooking classes (26-30 of October 2009)

Monday 26th: The Very Hungry Caterpillar
After a long weekend our caterpillar is very hungry! Inspired by the children’s classic “The Very Hungry Caterpillar”
We will follow the caterpillar on his journey and begin by making a fresh and healthy fruit salad,
Each child will go on to make and then decorate a beautiful muffin butterfly.
Tuesday 27th: Italian morning
The children will learn about the magical process of bread making. What is yeast? How does it work (a little chemistry lesson- who says that holidays can’t be educational and fun at the same time??)
Each child will make yummy hedgehog bread.
We will make fresh pizza with smiley faces...
Then we will make a cold pasta salad with lots of fresh ingredients.
Wednesday 28th: Welcome to the Jungle
We will sculpt animals out of sugar dough, creating a sweet and fun jungle cake.
I will teach the children how to create some beautiful and colourful animals from sugar dough, then placing them on a cake and create a jungle environment.
Thursday 29th: Oriental Day
Let’s roll, fold and make some yummy Vegetarian Sushi.
Noodles salad with steamed vegetables.
The children will make fortune cookies for themselves and for their loved ones - writing their own fortunes and making their own cookies...
How cool is that?

my summer fruit cake
MY SUMMER FRUIT CAKE
This easy to make delicious cake can be baked as a cake or as individual’s muffins...yummy!
And here it is:
(For 10-12 muffins or one 12” cake tin)
Put your oven on 150◦
1 cup of sugar
¾ of a cup of vegetable oil
4 medium eggs
1 tee spoon of bio carbonate of soda
2 ½ cups of plain flour
2 green apples – grated
Summer fruits – blueberries, raspberries, black berries etc.- as much or as little
1-2 table spoons of honey
Mix the sugar, oil, eggs and soda until combined together
Add the flour, grated apples, and honey and mix together in a mixer.
Add the fruits (leaving some aside) and mix with a wooden spoon gently so the fruits won’t brake completely. Pour the mixture into muffin cases or into an oiled and floured cake tin and sprinkle on top the remaining fruits (push them a little bit in so they wont roll off the cake/muffin).
now....this is the trick...
Bake it on 150◦ on a fan program for 10 min and then put it on the regular oven program (usually it looks like this = only more spacious) for another 20 min (for the muffin another 10 min).
Again, raving is promised!!
Try and let me know what you think!
BON APETIT!
My 5 Min delicious chocolate cake
